  • Decent album

"No Intenion" certainly stands out for me on this one. Grizzly Bear's "Veckatimest" is the best album of 2009 in my opinion. But I would say this album should definitely be listened to. Very unique songwriter.

Sure, it may be different. But why not? I think it's beautiful the way it's put together. All the songs flow...but don't at the same time, and I think that is just amazing. If you don't own this album yet, I recommend it. And if you don't like it yet, give it a few listens cause it will grow on you. It's beautifully composed and you can just TELL they put a lot of work into it. Well done <3 one of my favorites.
  • The defining album of our generation, the sgt pepper of our time

This is like the weirdest and most genius band in the world. David Longstreth is a misunderstood avant-garde intellectual and will be etched into the annals of history with Bach, Mahler and Miles Davis. The rhythms are mentally complex with styles importantly juxtaposed and perfect with the golden ratio universal fibonacci thingy. I feel so odd and ironic when I listen to it. Look at the hip young women on the cover. Look at the glazed ironic expressions on their faces. The cover of Bitte Orca is like so in tune with my young generation's aesthetic legacy. I feel so in tune with my generation because I like this. If you don't like this band you are incompetent. If you don't think this is the best album of the decade you don't understand the magnitude of important uniquely intellectual experimental music. Listening to Bitte Orca and enjoying it is tantamount to moral and intellectual truth.

I just don't get it. It was recommended to me, but diffently not my thing. I'm pretty open to a lot of music, but not one song caught my intrest. I'm glad that some people love it, but to call it the "best album of the decade!" I repeat, I don't get it!

Very interesting music, and it is a joy to listen to for me. The production is top-notch and the writing and musicianship are great as well. Lots of people hear disjointed music and think that anyone can make a cacophony, but there is a very important line that splits amateur noise music with intentionally out-there, artistically valid music, and that is the musicianship. Every piece of this band is tight, and therefore the compositions are also extremely tight, if seeming to be slightly awkward. I really don't find this very challenging music, it's beautiful. The girl has a great voice and the guitars are mixed in a cool way. Drums and bass are always the most important part when playing such intentionally strange and challenging music, and they do not disappoint at all. I generally think Pitchfork reviews are lame and skew things (obviously, reviews are subjective, can't get away from that) but the extremely high score this album got was definitely deserved.

I was looking for some good music to get on itunes, so i kept checking the "Listeners Also Bought" section. I saw the cover of this album and i thought it was really interesting. i clicked on it and then randomly decided to listen to Temicula Sunrise. I. was. speechless. This was exactly what i was looking for! i bought the album immediately and listened to every song. this band is definitely unique because i can't think of a genre to give this band. buy it now.

Yes, there is such a thing as trying and thinking too hard to be "different." This is exhibit A. Too esoteric, arty and self-conscious for its own good. That being said I do appreciate the effort towards trying something new, so it gets two stars.
  • Pretty Good

Yes, it's a great album and I am very thrilled to be the owner of it. But I do think that it sounds disjointed in a way that keeps me from listening to the whole album from start to finish. Oh, and it's only 9 songs: why would they make it $9.99 for the album when you can buy each track individually for $8.91...

I found out about this band from Urban Outfitters and I am so glad I did. It's so random and amazing. Every song has it's own different feel and if you really take the time to listen to each track, you will see how amazing the entire cd is. I highly recommend buying, although the deluxe album is cheaper and has more songs.
