This is the Dutch greatest hits package originally released as a double LP in 1981 under the title Zijn Grootste Successen, which I purchased as an import here in the US at the time. It was a great-sounding piece of vinyl, arguably better mastered than the albums it collects tracks from (his '70s RCA releases, Heaven & Hell, Albedo 0.39, Spiral and Beaubourg). Better collections have since been released, which include his '80s work for Polydor and beyond (including selections from Opera Sauvage, China, Chariots of Fire and other well-known pieces).

While I respect that the previous two reviewers rated this highly because they found something that "they" were looking for, if you who read this are among the majority this collection is not for you by a longshot. What gives "Vangelis Greatest Hits?" no "Chariots of Fire?" no "1492 Conquest of Paradise" main theme? This is a freakin' joke to label this as a "Greatest Hits" collection but yet at the same time not have the "greatest hits" on here. Don't be mislead, move on away from this.

Years. Years of searching for the B-side song from "The Music of Cosmos". I exhausted nearly every avenue I could find. Alpha was worth the wait, and the build up starting with 1:20 left until the end still sends chills through my spine. As the other commenter stated, the main theme for Cosmos was also one for the books. When will we see this full album "Music of the Cosmos" again in its entirety? I know it exists, my parents have the cassette tape case with the insert in pristine condition, but the tape got sold with one of their cars...

I looked long & hard on iTunes for the main theme Vangelis wrote for Carl Sagan's legendary show Cosmos. And here it is. Thank you Dr. Sagan, Vangelis, and whomever produced this best of album, it had been so long since I last heard this..
