  • Simply put...

This is by far one of the best electronica albums to come out in a very long time. BT once again redefines the genre though use of acoustic/electric sounds, fast beats, glitchy edits, strong vocals, and melodic synths. In conjunction with each other you get a strong, many times overwhelming, sense of isolation with the music itself. For those who may be new to the music, you owe it to yourself to open your ears a little more an listen to what is the epitome of modern electronica. 5/5
  • A summation.

It's a little shocking to hear Ima-era house stylings with a stutter edit. That is all.
  • Unbelievably good.

BT continues to amaze ... These Hopeful Machines is one of the best albums I've ever bought. Every song on the album is fantastic. It's a really relaxing album with which you can put on at any time of the day and just take it easy. There's a wide variety of emotions to be felt but they are all positive in their own ways. "Every Other Way" is quite possibly one of the most beautiful compositions ever composed. I'd actually heard Armin van Buuren's mix of it a while back and loved it, when I finally heard BT's original I fell even harder for it. BT sets himself apart from the mainstream crap. He really is one of the greatest composers out there and this album is proof of that. For anyone who just wants to pick out a few songs before they commit to the whole album, I strongly suggest listening to "Every Other Way" and "Forget Me." After listening to how good both of them are, combine the energy of "Forget Me" and the serenity of "Every Other Way" and you've basically got the essence of the entire album.

A great album from BT. I'm not one to listen to much dance music like this, but I'm glad I found this album while searching for similar artists. The majority of the tracks are catchy and upbeat, but there are some that lack a certain vibe or energy to them. Some of my favorites are "Always", "Forget Me", "Suddenly", and "The Emergency". I'm not too big of a fan of glitch electronica either, so the occasional occurance of this does get on my nerves a bit, but that is entirely my opinion. All in all, it is a good album and worth many listens!
  • Perfection.

Honestly, the only thing that can hold this album back is the quality of the sound system you use to play it through. You literally hear hundreds and hundreds of incredible sounds sewn together into beautiful tracks. It sounds like auditory heaven, and literally takes you from earth to BT. If you want to step outside the box, and hear what real, quality music sounds like, give this cd a chance. It gets better with every listen. Ps- Try listening Le Nocturne De Lumiere without cracking a smile- good luck!!!
  • A beautiful piece of work

I purchased this album only a couple of days ago, and its contents are already in my top ten of most listened to tracks in iTunes. This is a must buy for anyone who loves music, and most of all, enjoys being mesmerized by what BT brings to the table.

'Every Other Way' is my favorite song of 2010 as well as being my favorite album of the year thus far. 'Always' is the other stand out triumphant track on this album. Love the vocalists, the transitions and the Furs cover at the end of the journey.
  • Good, but too loud

Didn't like it at first, but now I think it's at least decent. Problem is, it's too darn loud and brickwalled. Another victim of the loudness war.
  • Genius

You are a geuius, man. Wow, what a sonic landscape. Listen with a good pair of headphones and it will blow your mind. Genius, BT, thank you!

Amongst the garbage that is mainstream music, BT has managed to release one of the most INGENIOUS albums i have ever heard. I've listened to it (amongst other CDs) nearly every day for the past two months. Driving down a dark, curvy road at night with trees on each side with the windows rolled down listening to this album (and This Binary Universe) is complete Zen for me. so relaxing. gets my mind off of anything immediately, no matter how troubling it is.
