Lorie's music has changed quite a bit over the years. In the beginning, she had a very catchy, light, upbeat sound epitomized by songs like "Pres de Moi" and "Week-End" that greatly appealed to my younger self. And, much like myself, Lorie has, over the years, slowly warmed to some of the edgier, 'harder' fare trending in the world today. On that path, she found varied success in my eyes, "Rester la Meme" turning out incredibly well, while "2lor en Moi" was somewhat hit-and-miss.
I'm still very fond of Lorie and her music, but, as someone who gives one of his best friends a super hard time for complaining about electronic/techno sounds hurting his ears, even I have trouble listen to much of this album. The very first song gave me so much of a headache that I nearly skipped it. I did skip through half of the next two and most of the others, in fact. Too much of it is overprocessed, hiding Lorie's beautiful voice and catchy melodies behind a racket of screeches and pulsating thumps.
But, hey, you obviously have the ability to check them out for yourself, and then agree or disagree as you please, so here's what I can offer you: if you are a fan of all of Lorie's past work, be sure to give a listen to "Juste a tes cotes," "Une histoire sans faim," and "J'en fais de trop."
