Not impressed

I bought this album without even previewing any of the tracks based on how great their last album "Crooks and Lovers" was. At my first attempt of listening to this album I found myself skipping though tracks. This is not the Mount Kimbie I once knew. This album is confused, the tracks are boring, and it doesn't mesh together at all. This sounds like a b-sides album at best. Big disappointment.

This is one to get lost in. Thickly layered, atmospheric tunes. Not a bad one on the album. As the itunes review notes, the collabs with King Krule are fantastic.

In that moment when the first beat hits on "You Took Your Time," you can tell that Mount Kimbie are on a totally different level than everyone else in the music game right now. "Cold Spring Fault Less Youth" is assuredly more easy to listen to than "Crooks and Lovers" but that doesn't lessen the listening experience. Not many bands can do that. I recommend listening to this album. A lot.
