This episode creeps up on you in all the right ways. Dan's comparisons to contemporary society from an Assyrian POV are phenomenally illustrated. Well worth the three bucks!

Tells the history of the fall of Ninevah, what was a major world power at the time. The story resonates with events today. Among Dan’s best. Follow this up with “Apache Tears” for a compelling listening session.

I like to find stories that are from ancient times and this one is excellent. Dan weaves an vast amount of research and knowledge into an entertaining and mentally engaging piece of history. This is one, if you are a fan of history like me, you will listen to more than once - guaranteed.

This is one of the first Hardcore History episodes I've ever heard and needless to say it had me hooked from then on. The episode focuses on, well, the downfall of Ninevah and the destruction of the Assyrian empire at the hands of those who had been oppressed by that empire. Dan sprinkles in great anecdotes about the Assyrian leaders, culture and how they set the template for future dominating empires to come.A wonderful introduction to the Assyrians and to Hardcore History.
