This is one of my personal favorite The Doors albums. This album has a great flow, track after track. Also, this album has great vocals, great drum solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. I only wish that we had another The Doors LP, or EP to look forward to...

Great musicians lacking a great singer. Not their fault ,no one would have accepted a replacement singer at the time .
  • No Jim, No Doors

The only reason to listen to this record, is to reinforce the fact that Jim Morrison was the heart and soul of this band. Compared to LA Woman, this is sounds like a Monkees record. Recommended for historical purposes, only.

I can't really listen to this album and it all comes down to the singing. Oh, the pain of hearing Ray Manzarek sing! Robby Kreiger isn't much better but at least he wasn't aspiring to be a great singer. If only the album consisted of all instrumentals, I could almost recommend it. I don't think The Doors were wrong in carrying on w/o Jim Morrison, I just think they should have hired a real singer. For the curious only.

An amazing album, I don't see any quality difference between this and their earlier albums.
  • A solid album despite Jim's passing

Despite the fact that Jim Morrison's life ended in Paris the remaining members delivered their best, what makes the Doors a great band was of course Jim's voice but another thing too was that the band was able to grow. Jim's death made the band grow even more, they had to deal with loss and turned to music to offer a tribte to what Jim started as a student/poet.

They're not the Doors without Jim. However, this was still a solid record. Ships with Sails was pretty tight, as was the primary "hit" Tightrope Ride. Hang On To Your Life is pretty cool as well.
