In early 70s, I bought this album because of the song “Smoke on the Water”. I didn’t know that I was buying the greatest live album of all time. Fantastic! Space Trucking!

Deep Purple’s Made in Japan. Easy. This is “The Live” Album that made ‘Live’ an essential recording for every Rock Band to follow. Classic before Classic became cool. Just push play..really.

The live version of ‘Highway Star’ alone is worth the purchase price. Incredible velocity and Blackmore’s guitar solo is a thing to behold. Leaves the listener exhausted and its just the first song! A terrific band in their artistic prime. While I was a big fan of their next album Who Do We Think We Are, the band splintered a few year later and would never again scale the heights of Machine Head and Made in Japan.

I bought this album in 1972 and wore it out playing so much. Talk about time travel, this brought me back to a time long ago. What a great live album and what a great band. If you don't have this album, get it, you won't regret it.

It is a genius live album. Best live album in the world, but buying the physical copy adds to the experience
