Didn’t have high expectations leading up to this, but wow. There’s maybe 2-4 misses I could think of, everything else is straight heat.
Notable Songs
National Treasures: 10/10
On first listen, I was surprised to see that Pressa was on this. Thank god Drake removed him and added another verse of his own. Both beats go crazy, and Drake’s lyricism is nothing short of great.
Firm Friends: 9.5/10
The laid back Conductor Williams beat sets the tone for the song. Reminds me of 8am in Charlotte off that For All the Dogs record, both are good. It’s also a song over 5 minutes, so more lengthy greatness. Only critique I have is some of Drake’s rhyme schemes being off.
Make Them Pay: 9/10 Pretty good diss record, Drake throws shots at guys like Rick Ross, J. Cole, DJ Khaled, Pusha T, etc. This beat goes unironically hard and I’m glad it wasn’t wasted on a bad diss record. Only thing stopping it from being higher is, well, it’s a diss record. Drake should get over the beef, but I don’t care about it much if he drops hard records like this.
All in all, this album is solid. However, I’d ignore the other two albums he dropped since they aren’t the greatest. 4.5/5
