Peter has always been ahead of his time, his tracks are original, deep and truly inspired. He pushes boundaries and mixes melody, voice and instruments, capturing haunting sounds and lyrics. "In Your Eyes" was everyone's "song" in 1989 and 1990. continuing to be an original, deep song today. There are few who don't recognize the song from the hit movie "Say Anything", and the iconic boom box scene encapsulate true feeling. Peter continues to create amazing and original tracks with every album and while many of the later albums, (post Us) didn't enjoy the commercial success So and Us did, they are still inspired, amazing works.

Like Cohen's "Hallelujah" and Sting's "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You", Peter Gabriel has discovered that he really is an angel, and can fuse heaven and earth with his music. In this difficult time, it is wonderful to have something to hold on to. thanks!

Love this album so much. I feel it has stood the test of time and there are so many gems. My favorite songs are Red Rain, Sledgehammer, Don't Give Up, and In Your Eyes. Mercy Street and That Voice Again are also beautiful songs. Although Big Time feels a bit corny next to the pure brilliance of the other tracks, it is certainly not bad. In my opinion, the only weak points are the experimental pieces This is the Picture and We Do What We're Told, but they are an expression of Gabriel's artistry and part of the album's message. An essential to any collection.

I was working at an actual record store when this came out. I always played it loud on "store play". Red Rain rocked. Jeff B
