In 1998, Nate Dogg, being released Ghetto Preacher as the first album for a two part series, G-Funk Classics. Prior to its release, Nate Dogg became well received by fans and critics alike for his trademark styled voice and features with Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg. However, the album was shelved for two years due to legal issues with Death Row Records, which at that point West Coast Hip Hop was unfortunately diminishing and the album only made it up to number 58 on Billboard. It explores harmonic themes of faith, love, loyalty as well as Nate's anxiety with conflicts on the streets and being forced to be strapped at all times. Because of the fall of West Coast Hip Hop and the rise of other rappers like Eminem, Nate Dogg never received as much attention and appreciation for this album.
