(MAY)BE or ZIJ(N) is a slice-of-life film and tells the story of Jip, a creative writing student who is searching for her place in the world as a female creative maker after leaving her familiar surroundings. As she begins her studies, lives on her own for the first time and forms new friendships, she realizes that her passions and talents do not always align, making her doubt her own creativity whilst at the same time being confronted with the question of whether there is space for her stories in a world in which the male perspective often takes the center stage. Portraying themes such as creativity, talent versus enjoyment, daring to dream and daring to fail, the film captures the feeling of being a young woman in a creative environment and what it means to be a woman in a male-dominated world.
