"Female or Shemale" is a short film accompaniment to a larger performance art piece. It had been conceived, written, and directed by Julienne "Mizz June" Brown and filmed, edited, and co-directed by Niknaz. It attempts to recreate the personal daily struggles of a black transwoman (Mizz June) on the streets of New York City and how her being trans doesn't negate any part of her womanhood. In essence, an artistic social commentary poking fun at the way society treats women both transgender and otherwise. The main issue here is: "Hey, I am treated/looked at the same (as any other woman) on the street. So why can I not be considered one?" This piece is based on actual events.
