SOUL(S) POWER - creation June 2026 Lugano Dance Project Festival A hybrid creation project that Hamdi Dridi begins as a musical process, which gradually tints the choreographic composition. It begins in 2025 with a first work in progress presentation, to culminate in the finalization of creation in June 2026. Hamdi Dridi will propose along the way, musical creation workshops, associated to dance bodies, carried out with amateurs. He chooses to compose bubbles/choreographed musical spaces for amateurs that he meets along his path. This research, which develops new ways of composition, will lay the foundations for Hamdi Dridi’s duel solo, built with this evolutionary aspect in 2025/2026. This approach will then continue through the circulation of the project. After creating several choreographic projects since 2016, solo, trio, quartet, quintet, and his latest creation DANS(E) HOUSE, participatory and immersive project. Hamdi Dridi wishes to approach this new process through the path of instantaneous dance composition, in conjunction with musical composition, completely involved into the sharing evolution with the audience, during his approach, through the themes that he chooses to embark on. He wants to build, little by little, through these meetings. In the continuity of his constant dialogue, with urban dances, he wants to engage a process close to a jam, where the composition is forged through its direct experimentation, where spectators find place in proximity, in listening and in actions. With the aesthetics that have shaped his dance choreographic language, Hamdi Dridi invites us to enter the power of the soul that makes his house, his country, a nomadic body, a nomadic scene, to dance and make those around him dance, to take people on a journey between fields and off-fields. Sound is the main tool to guide us, to make us travel, towards a dreamed space, a space that he calls reasonable thanks to its resonance. This highlights the memory of the places he visits, the volume between four walls, like the volume that neither walls nor borders have. Hamdi Dridi wishes to direct perceptions towards the body acting music/dance, like a stage that can be described as spectacular. The body as personal and universal space, as private and public space. It is a tribute to the human body in the posture of worker, of life, beyond social class. Hamdi Dridi is in turn a DJ, a sound narrator, through vinyl gleaned from his travels, a sound manipulator, in the way he mixes, transforms, exhausts the tracks he chooses and evolves, an artisan of sound diffusion, by the use of autonomous amplifier diffusion sources that he can move, such as, through the use of microphones that distort the sound or magnify it by associating it with the gesture, and a dancer who listens to the resonance of the groove thus multiplied, spatially orchestrated. He is joined in this stage approach by Lucas Prud'homme, sound engineer, who comes at times to scratch on the sound mixer, while welcoming, accompanying the proposals of the live sound universes, slipping into it, sound elements of his own creation. This solo duel is an ode to the simple diversity of the human being, built by his ancestors, his ghosts, his everyday acts, here summoned by music and dance, intimately combined. It is a joyful ceremony of being together through the cypher that brings together the protagonists and the audience, to experience a common pulse, so let’s not fake the funk!! It is the need to survive, in this territory, enriched with gesture and sound. We are all survivors, This creative process deals with the emotional and physical state through its impact on rhythm and groove in its vision of the other, of the human, of humanity. The body is a tool for communication, and for expressing this mode of survival. The body which, perhaps, like the one of the authors, seeks a roof, a place where to find roots. It is a body that crosses, walks, runs, jumps, slides... a body determined by its acts of resonance with space, with others. A survivor, who assembles and gathers. Summoning being together with the public, as an urgency, a necessary call to build new perspectives, new relationships, new narratives, with the groove, intense and shared, as a universe to be accosted.
