A film about the musical journey that a group of families went through. Telling stories about the experience of how young people from black or mixed race heritage began playing classical string instruments - viola, violin, cello. Many started at a the age of 6 or 7 and the film outlines their progress and the lessons learnt by the parents who supported them. The video was produced by Kuumba Youth Music - a support structure of parents who came together to share experience and knowledge as well as guide their children through a demanding and highly regarded cultural practice. The film was funded by the National Foundation for Youth Music through the Arts Council of England.
