Trailer for my hopefully soon-to-be-completed documentary about performers of gıranî, an emerging genre and sound that is concentrated in North Kurdistan/Southeast Anatolia and major cities in the Çukurova region of Mediterranean Turkey. This genre revolves around traditional Kurdish dancing and the use of the elektrobağlama and electronic keyboards in giving voice to the defiant energy and painful memories shared by Kurds dedicated to struggling against political oppression, social marginalization, and cultural negation.
