Our group received special permission to conduct a ghost hunt in the caverns beneath the Lemp Mansion and Brewery. Nothing paranormal was documented because of the extreme climate conditions, all of our still cameras lenses fogged up and were rendered useless. However the high levels of heat generated by my Hi-8 camcorder cleared my video cameras lenses. The first 20 minutes of video suffer for being unable to focus the camera properly, but once the view finder had cleared we were able to capture excellent video. Special points of interest are the collapsed stairway over a ravine, and several underground ponds populated with blind fish and salamander. Cherokee Caves are sometimes referred to as "lost" part of a forgotten past in St. Louis. Fortunately the caves are alive and well as a thriving Eco system.
