http://newhorizons123.biz Why is this important? What’s the first thing your visitors will see when they land on your blog post? The title of course! If your title is boring and not attention-grabbing, your visitor isn’t going to hang around. Now don’t take this to mean you can write really flashy blog post titles just to grab attention and then not actually write about the same topic in your post . If you do, you will likely piss people off and they won’t stay long enough to read your post and take some sort of action. Consider this: you are window shopping for an outfit for a very special occasion and you see something that really grabs you in the window of a store. So, of course you are going to go into the store, right? How would you feel if you found out that the store doesn’t actually carry what they are showing in their window? Probably not too kindly toward the shop owner and it is highly doubtful that you will look around at their other merchandise, right? Congruency is important. Your blog title must be a bridge to your blog body, meaning, whatever title you use, the body must fulfill that title so that eventually your visitor can take some sort of action. Examples of Different Types of Blog Titles Promise Titles generally work simply because they are positive. So for example, “How to Effectively Do This to Gain This” or “How to Write Effective Blog Titles to Entice Your Readers to Take Action” gives people a positive reason to read your blog to learn something that will help them. Negative Titles are most effective when someone is facing a problem, wants to avoid something, or doesn’t want to lose something. Because most people have something they want to avoid, negative titles can also be effective. So a title like: “How Not to Write Lousy Blog Post Titles and Drive Your Viewers Away” would be most effective for those who are looking to gain more blog readers. Because both promise and negative titles can be effective, it is best if you know your audience and write for them. It also can’t hurt to use a combination of both. Test them and see which ones work best for your target audience.
