The act was amended in 2014, primarily replacing section 9 which details the eligibility requirements for parole. The Mission of the Board is to ensure public protection by making informed parole decisions and successfully re-introducing qualified offenders into the community through supervised conditional release. The Parole Board strongly believes in the parole process and is committed to the ethical, unbiased, and professional performance of its duties and will continually weigh the risks while striving for excellence, justice and consistent fairness. Parole, know the function, and understand the process. This message was brought to you by the Ministry of Health and Social Development and the Parole Board of the Virgin Islands.
