The theme is that of love, referring among other things to the statement “Make love, not war!” from the 1970s at the time of the Vietnam War. In so doing I am emphasising peace and love through underwear in these times of war (Middle East, Iraq, Ukraine etc.) and terrorism (Paris). In this collection of elastic shorts and tops for men and women I use six different flower and plant motifs, due to their age-old significance: White tulips are a universally acknowledged symbol for forgiveness; Ivy symbolises eternal fidelity; Red carnations refer to the carnation revolution in Portugal in which the military dictatorship was peacefully overthrown by the local population; Red roses, generally recognised as a sign of true love; and lastly the proverbial Forget-me-nots.
