The Dubai Design Fashion Council were showcasing their work at Dubai Design Week. A key element was a programme of innovative installations that were exhibited by renowned international and local designers across the city in strategic locations. We were brought on to create DDFC’s logo reveal. I don’t know if it’s all those years working under fluorescent lights or what, but we decided that an illuminated logo reveal would work perfectly. It also helped that this idea linked to the fashion world’s photo shoots and controlled lighting. Creating something analogue in CG always feels very cart before the wormhole; for this reason sound had a crucial role to play. By emphasising the familiar fluorescent bulb startup sound the piece comes to life long before the logo is revealed.
