KVOM: Missed opportunities haunted the Devil Dogs Friday night and Morrilton lost to Searcy, 37-7, on the first game on the new synthetic turf at Devil Dog Stadium. Morrilton accumulated 345 yards of offense, but two turnovers, a missed field goal, and a safety prevented the Devil Dogs from mounting a serious threat against the Lions, who held a 14-0 lead at halftime after Morrilton was stopped at the one-yard line on the final play of the first half. After Searcy scored in the third quarter, the Devil Dogs got on the board and cut the deficit to 21-7 when Jamar Criswell scored from one yard out early in the fourth quarter. The Lions, however, would score on a safety and two long touchdown runs by quarterback Desmond Stegall to set the final score. Criswell finished with 89 yards rushing on 17 carries and quarterback David Ford threw for 217 yards, completing 21-of-34 passes with two interceptions. Prior to the game, the new field at Devil Dog Stadium was dedicated to Mobley Contractors for their work and commitment to the turf installation project. The field is now known as Mobley Contractors Field and the Devil Dogs open conference play there Friday night against Alma.
