Chainworks Productions doing Fast Theatre. In Pubs. In Pontypridd. In Tom Jones’ local to be precise. The Rickards Arms in Treforest hosted Tom Jones’ Sofa thanks to support from Otley Ltd, (who brew fine beer) and Arts & Business Cymru (who promote great arts). The aim was to take entertaining and engaging stories rooted in the South Wales Valleys to people in pubs who think that they don’t like theatre. The result – they loved it. ChainWorks is planning to tour Tom’s Sofa, internationally, starting with the Edinburgh Fringe. The show will take an unexpected turn linking Tom’s sofa to another famous Welsh icon, Stanley Baker, who was in Zulu, forged by one of Wales’ finest playwrights, Laurence Allan.
