OK, "creamed" maybe a little misleading, but it's not every day that a slow Buick wastes a fast car. Greg has lightning reflexes, and the car hooked well. Today was the chance to see what the new high-flow cats would do for the car. Our previous best effort was a 10.055. We knew the car felt better and we could hit the 9's, but we were surprised at how well it ran. In the first run against a turbo Eclipse, notice how well the Buick smokes the tires in the burnout box. Unfortunately, the new low end torque along with a slippery right side, the Buick spun like crazy off the line. Greg let off, spun again, let off and nailed it - and he won! Bad filming on my part because I thought Greg would rocket out of the hole like he usually does (which you actually do see in the second run against the GT-500). The second run was our best to date. Luckily the GT-500 reacted slowly, then spun the tires at the starting line. The GT-500's higher trap speed gives you a hint of what its capable of. All in all we are happy sending a nearly 5000 lb vehicle down the track in 9.818". An improvement of .237" in the 1/8th mile due mainly to the high-flow cats.
