Medi Bugembe ran away from his stepmother's home at age 6 to escape abuse. He lived as street child in Kampala, Uganda until he was rescued by Bright Kids Uganda co-founder Victoria Nalongo Namusisi at age 11. At Bright Kids he was given a home, an education and was encouraged to find his own way. He is now giving back as the founder of the children's home and school The Great Kings and Queens Children's Centre. Many of the children came from the same streets where he fought for survival.
