Sheriff Bill Gore led the call against drinking and driving on Super Bowl weekend. A mangled SUV used in DUI and Start Smart classes was on display during the press conference at the Ridgehaven office on Monday (1/31). Pamela Marabeas was killed inside the SUV in Santee in 2009 because of a drunk driver. Marabeas' daughter spoke about her loss and her efforts for tougher sentences for juvenile drivers who seriously injure or kill someone while under the influence. Sheriff's Deputies will be conducting a DUI checkpoint as well as saturation patrols during the Super Bowl weekend.
