While being interviewed for Robert Mugge's 1984 film GOSPEL ACCORDING TO AL GREEN, Reverend Al asked if he should play something. When asked to please do so, he improvised a song he later titled "I Love You." Three takes were filmed, and each one was different. One take of the song was used to open GOSPEL ACCORDING TO AL GREEN, and a second was used to close it. This is the latter take.
