SDSU Football Highlights

This is the opening segment of a larger piece I did for San Diego State University's Athletic Department in 2000. It was a highlight/recruiting film used to promote the department's football team. It was created in Media 100 and After Effects. The video is built around the groove: you'll notice a lot of "internal hits", where a key action connects to the music, which keeps the adrenaline up. On the other hand, there's a deliberate looseness that fit the music and the recruiting pitch for the university. I experimented with the logo in After Effects and came up with some nice treatment effects. It's a still image that I made 3D and added motion, put a light behind it and threw a film look filter on. The effect works because the Aztec has white edging on the feathers. On the 3D this gives it a perceived depth that it doesn't really have. It was a "value added" moment as both the post supervisors and the client thought it was far more complex than it really was.
