Aurora Borealis - seen from BC, Canada - 17th July 2017

2017-07-17 2 196 Vimeo

Timelapse video of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) visible just north of Vancouver, BC. The Kp index was high due to a recent Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from the sun that released a large amount of plasma roughly in Earth's direction. It was close enough to create a geomagnetic storm, which resulted in the Aurora being visible further south than usual. NB: This is not real-time, and the colours and brightness have been enhanced - you will not see the aurora colours like this with the naked eye.
