CLASS 1 7:00-7:05 MEDITATION 7:05-7:30 p.m. 1) I tell a funny anthropological story about a tribe, the Tiwi, that has a dysfunctional reality paradigm which has resulted in a quite dysfunctional culture. This reality paradigm has created great handicaps to having a fulfilling life, yet this tribe because it has been conditioned to this paradigm, really believes it is reality.. 2) I read a medical document, that is both quite humorous and tragic, to show how our present disempowering medical system if not dysfunctional, is still obviously limited in its powers to heal. Yet, many of us are also so conditioned to our present medical and cultural paradigm, we really believe, like the Tiwi, it is reality. a) This limited view of healing has come about because we have chosen allegiance to a medical and cultural paradigm that puts its reliance primarily on the scientific investigation of the external world by experts, rather than focusing on the self-awareness and responsibility that come from focus on one’s inner life ie oneness with source. b) As a result of not realizing that self-awareness and responsibility, only possible because coming from source, are the foundation of any effective medical treatment, our present medical system doesn’t have a clue as to the awesome power we have to influence our health. This is because the awesome healing powers of the mind, and living in accord with nature’s laws, are something most doctors have never experienced for themselves, since self-awareness and responsibility were not taught in medical school. 3) This limited view of the body’s ability to heal is also a result of a misunderstanding of the body as a material body, and not an energy/information body operating as a messaging system. 7:15 – 8:00 4)I give three discoveries in the last 100 years, that had the potential to shift the focus from investigation of the outside world to self-awareness and personal responsibility, because coming from source, as our medical paradigm. These discoveries all came even before quantum physics was applied to medicine, giving us a new biological model of the quantum body. a) Discovery of immune system conditioning, the invention of psychoneuroimmunology, and new appreciation and understanding of the placebo effect. b) The discovery of the unconscious, and new awareness how many of our emotional/mental choices and lifestyle choices are having a negative effect on our body without our awareness. c) Hans Selye’s discovery of the three stages of stress is a precursor to almost all illness. The focus then became who has the disease, and whether their choices were making them susceptible to illness, and not on the disease itself. 8:00-8:30 4) One of the themes of this workshop is that the E.S (extraordinary survivors) had a spiritual transformation that brought them a new level of power, before they were in a context to experience a miracle... 5) I tell of the nature of the Hippocrates Program, and how it gave me the opportunity to observe both empowered people and disempowered. a) As a result I was able to predict who among those with terminal diagnosis would still be alive two years after I left Hippocrates, just by knowing their personalities. b) Other evidence of transformation is that quite often, the survivors would claim their serious illness was the greatest gift in their life. c) Final evidence. My interviews showed that the E.S. all had in common: They didn’t think the dismal statistics applied to them, and they could be the one in ten who recovered, and they were totally at peace, no matter what happened, because of their transformation. 6) I present further evidence that shows this was actually a spiritual transformation because it resulted in a new priority for the inner life ie oneness with source. As a result the E.S. ignored the present medical paradigm’s exclusive external focus on the discoveries of materialist science, and instead, coming from source, they had self-awareness of what was going on in their body, and took responsibility for the body they were creating, only using the discoveries of materialist science, when appropriate. a) I use quotes from the 27 interviews I’ve done with E.S. to back up this claim that they experienced a spiritual transformation which put a new priority on their inner life. . b) I share quotes from authors of books on miracle healing, all emphasizing the importance of the inner life. 5) I see the E.S. as canaries in the coal mine, who out of life and death necessity, developed an inner life, and found peace because they became responsible for their mind emotions, and lifestyle. The resulting self-awareness and responsibility for the experience of reality they created, can be models for the rest of us, who lives lives of unawareness. Their stories are examples of applying the new spiritual paradigm of awareness and responsibility that can heal the individual and planet. 8:30-8:40 BREAK 8:40-9:20 6) Overview of Western philosophy from its beginnings with Plato- the mystic/Aristotle – the scientist, through Descartes, and the mind/body split. **(WE DO EXERCISE TO SHOW THAT DESCARTES IS WRONG ABOUT HIS BELIEF THAT REASON IS WHAT MAKES US SPIRITUAL, COMPARED TO ANIMALS, AND WRONG THAT OUR REACTIVE EMOTIONS ARE OUR LOWER UNSPIRITUAL NATURE WHICH CAN BE OVERCOME BY REASON.) ** 9:20-9:30 (I EXPLAIN WHAT HEIDEGGER MEANT BY “BEINGNESS”) **(WE END EVERY CLASS WITH A HEIDEGGERIAN EXERCISE IN “BEINGNESS”)**
