“An intimate portrayal of a legend in underground music.” - Robin Murray, Clash Music A Red-F Knho Film by Fred Riedel and Jerry Fried Filmed during dozens of recording sessions, Hello Hello Hello is a story of the creative process - Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) collaborating with producer Raül Refree, across a year and 3,842 miles with a little help from their friends. Novelist Jonathan Lethem (Motherless Brooklyn, The Fortress of Solitude) plays writer/lyricist/muse to Ranaldo’s artist/composer wanderings, across soundscapes created alongside friends and musical guest artists including Nels Cline (Wilco), Sharon Van Etten, Alan Licht, John Colpitts (Kid Millions), and Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth). Theirs is an unusually intimate and personal process in the creation of Ranaldo’s album, Electric Trim (Mute, 2017), a bold, new sound and a lush and striking departure from Ranaldo’s signature work. “Cuts seamlessly between Ranaldo and Fernandez hashing out a lick, to a blow-you-outta-yr-seat, wall-of-sound recording of the polished mix.” - Daniel Maurer, NY Magazine/Bedford and Bowery “I loved it.” - Nick Hutchings, The Quietus “HELLO HELLO HELLO captures Ranaldo’s thrillingly creative process in detail.” - Montclairfilm.org "A huge lesson in what musicians do with their uncanny abilities, how they think within those abilities." - Ken Jacobs Produced, Directed and Shot by Fred Riedel Co-Produced and Edited by Jerry Fried Filmed on location at Echo Canyon West, NJ and Estudios Calamar, Barcelona, May 2015-April 2016 Fred Riedel received the Best Director Award at the 2017 Gig Harbor Film Festival An in-depth interview with Fred Riedel can be viewed at bit.ly/2WCSkoW ELECTRIC TRIM (Mute) album is available at http://smarturl.it/LRET Original art work and poster design by Michael Anderson
