Community helpers of the week: Firefighters! This week we had a visit from the Frisco Fire Department. Our class enjoyed a tour in their fire truck and being around real Firefighters. They were super excited to show off their hats they made during art time, and asked many questions regarding fire safety. To explore a simple chemical reaction that is safe for kids, we made bubbly fires with vinegar and baking soda. This was to answer the question asked by your children. “How do fires start”? This was a great experiment to share thoughts and observations. Our discussion opens the door for enhanced language and listening skills while encouraging them to use independent thinking skills as they share. At the end of the week, we decided to do a fire safety enactment where our class mimicked what could be a cause of fire at a restaurant. They had an awesome experience learning about firefighters and the important role they play in our community.
