The Neptune Islands are a place of iconic wildlife activity. It is home of the Apex predatory fish of all oceans, the great white shark. This famous animal plays a major role in the foodchain, yet it is not interested in humans as a food source despite a very mistaken and undeserving image. All the datas are here to prove it, but it really started to make sense to me when I jumped in the water with them for the first time, 4 years ago. Every time someone asks me « Were you scared? » I have the same answer. The second I lock eyes with a great white, fear is replaced with fascination. Don’t get me wrong, it is a dangerous animal and it deserves the maximum amount of precaution and respect, but it is not here to kill you. It is a curious and intelligent animal, not a man-eating machine. Being in the ocean with sharks and a camera is a blessing, humbling and awesome thing for me. I learn and enjoy it very single time. . Les îles Neptune sont un sanctuaire sous-marin iconique. Elles abritent un top prédateur, le grand requin blanc. Cet animal célèbre joue un rôle majeur dans la chaîne alimentaire, mais ne s'intéresse pas aux hommes en tant que source de nourriture, malgré l’image erronée qui lui colle aux nageoires. Si toutes les données sont là pour le prouver, pour moi, cela a vraiment commencé à faire sens lorsque j'ai plongé avec eux pour la première fois, il y a 4 ans. Chaque fois que quelqu'un me demande «T’as eu peur? » j'ai la même réponse: la fascination remplace la peur. Bien sûr, c’est un animal dangereux et interagir avec lui nécessite respect et précaution, mais il n’est pas là pour nous tuer. C'est un animal intelligent et curieux, pas une machine à manger les hommes. Être dans l'eau avec une caméra et des requins est comme une bénédiction, j’apprends et je kiffe à tous les coups! . . .
