‘From Old Irish: ben síde, baintsíde, “woman of the fairy mound” or “fairy woman” A female spirit in Irish mythology who heralds the death of a family member, usually by wailing, shrieking, or keening.’ This is a lament. This is a warning. Drawing on traditional Celtic folklore and the power of voice, this performance for camera is a bad omen for a dying planet. The banshee exists in us all, silenced. It’s important it is heard before it’s too late. Conceptualised and edited by Rachel Elizabeth Coleman Filmed by Tal Kronkop
