From http://imatteryouth.org/. Jamie-Lynn's video is fourth in the Trust series -- a series of 10 short films to document U.S. youth, who are standing up in court to compel action on climate change. The science is undeniable. We have fundamentally transformed our planet. This ecological transformation, in turn, has created the human rights challenge of our time: climate change. To address this challenge, hope rests with our youth. In Arizona, it lies with eleven year old Jamie-Lynn Butler, a young Navajo girl. In this video, Jamie-Lynn discusses how drought in the southwest is impacting her life. She has written letters to President Obama about the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, the BP Oil Spill, and climate change and is now serving as a youth plaintiff in the State of Arizona, demanding that the state recognizes that our atmosphere is a resource we all share and depend upon for our very survival. Then, considering our dependence, they ask that the courts compel the government to immediate action to protect the atmosphere's health and in turn, our own futures.
