Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation. Tooting, howling, screeching, booming, crashing, whistling, grinding, and trilling bolster his ego. -Jean Arp Routes is a stop motion animation addressing human behavior in the digital age. The piece brings to question how technologies have changed the world we live in and the language with which we understand it. Constant connection to technologies has altered the way we behave affecting relationships, communication, literacy, privacy, speed and linguistic norms. Routes confronts this change with its aesthetics and production method suggesting the power and importance of analogue methods, patience, and process in the digital age.
