About the ephemeral

The shortfilm "About the ephemeral" works as methaphore of the indiference that contemporary societies show towards violence in the everyday life. The balloons with their different colours swimming in the sea show us how dependent we are one attached to eachother. In difficult times we swimm to the rithm of the society and nurture ourselves with the feeling of belonging to a collective. The act of including implies excluding at the same time: the „other“ becomes target. Diversity becomes a menace and minorities are stigmatized as enemies. The stereotypes are ephemeral, they come and go and can be produced in arbitrary way. However the grief and the pain are real. The absences of beloved ones is real too. Perhaps because I’m Armenian, I’m sensitive to the absences in Turkey. People „plays“ to kill or show indiference. They become whitnesses of real catastrophies and the story begin again and again.
