A four-minute reflection on God's tender, caring love for us. *** by Antoinette Opara, SHCJ Have you wondered how you look when you are sleeping? Peaceful, secure, beautiful, with a rhythm of the breath. If not, pretend to be sleeping and take a selfie. When I was younger, someone once mentioned that I looked peaceful while sleeping. I find comfort and joy in the image of me at peace. I think of God watching me. I convince myself that He is pleased with what he sees. Venerable Cornelia Connelly reminds us: We are what we are in the sight of God, nothing more or less. God sees us as His children, innocent, trustful, and entirely at peace with the world. I like the song, Sleeping Child, from the album Colours, by the Danish Rock band Michael Learns to Rock. Beautiful song, soothing and inspiring. In the song, the lead singer, with all the love in his heart, expresses a desire to keep his child away from all the wild world. God desires this for us. Think of God with a twinkle in his eyes, watching you sleep, especially on the days when the challenges were daunting. Give praise to God as he renews you by his love. • As you go through the day, what will you do to keep God’s love for you in your view? • Would you be comfortable keeping a journal of your thoughts about God’s love for you?
