Noisy signals: ghosts, spikes and fields of emergence This presentation will consider noise as the glue between what we might perceive as internal and external experience. Noise can be considered as bits of memory, momentarily breaking through into the present. Noise is the fluidity in-between things, whether amid the signal and its opposite, the neuronal spike and its’ dip or the threshold between interiority and exteriority. Noise is the buoyancy that blends past and present, the underlying endogenous stimulation of the brain, the platform facilitating the unbroken fluidity of perception. These ideas will be discussed in relation to two sonic artworks ‘Ghost’ and ‘Closer’
