The end of the 1956 movie version of Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "The King and I". King Mongkut is dying, and his son Chulalongkorn abolishes prostration, saying it is a barbaric practice. The movie is banned in Thailand which is a great pity as it raises many themes highly relevant now that the current king, Bhumibol Adulyadej, is dying.
