This clip consists of four repetitions of a 22-second video. The original video is designed to loop continuously, presented on a wall-mounted LCD. Lanyard is one of more than 75 steady-state narratives I’ve made, that have something of the quality of a fixed memory, nightmarish or otherwise. Time passes and events occur – but actions only result in the status quo ante, while time passes toward a future that will always be identical to the past.
