Canopy Design Flaw Causes Catastrophic Injury

www.legalarsenal.com The plaintiff in this case slipped on black ice directly outside an office building, causing a catastrophic injury. Even though the building’s maintenance workers shoveled the sidewalk periodically, the plaintiff’s lawyers successfully argued that the building’s canopy was the cause. Legal Arsenal’s animation exhibit clearly showed that rain and sleet were cascading onto the sidewalk below. As the temperature dropped during the night, water and sleet from the canopy created pools of black ice on the sidewalk. Had the owners of the building installed rain gutters onto their canopy –as portrayed in Legal Arsenal’s animation exhibit– the plaintiff would not be condemned to a life of pain and suffering. The case settled favorably in the plaintiff's favor in mediation.
