Official Music Video for DZ Deathrays for their single 'No Sleep' from their debut album 'Bloodstreams' (2012). Directed by Vonne Patiag Produced by pettythieves Starring: Arj Barker This video pays homage to the classic music video for Paul Simon for his song, "You Can Call Me Al" which featured the comedian Chevy Chase. Shane and Simon from DZ Deathrays and Arj Barker respectively play these roles. When laying out the schedule for the shoot, it was important to incorporate elements and the instruments from the original and to add a modern indie thrash house party rock to reflect the musical stylings of the boys. The video was shot over one day with a two camera setup on a farm out in Pheasants Nest, about 80kms outside of Sydney (Canberra bound). The set was constructed under the main household and was made to be portable for the final shot reveal when the set is destroyed. The farm was actually a working dog/puppy farm, and with little sleep, and the constant cry of puppies at every turn, we decided impromptu to add the St. Bernard's to the final reveal shot. This was complicated, as we only had one shot at the reveal, and unfortunately the Dog Wrangler was caught in the middle of the shot. This added quite a lot of work to the clip's post production, as each frame had to be tweaked and graded. Ultimately it was a fun exercise, and Arj Barker was definitely a highlight and great guy to work with.
