For my editing class, we were asked to create a trailer which, based on editing, changed the genre of the original film. I chose to do James Cameron's 1997 Romance/Historical Drama/Disaster film, "Titanic". I chose this film because I remember watching it when I was younger after hearing all the hype from my friends and finding it utterly boring, so I decided to recreate it in a way that I found more interesting. I also decided to play on my own fear of water/the ocean for this one and tried to make the water itself the main fear factor in the film, in the hopes that people can see that fear through my eyes. The brief for this exam said we were allowed to add footage from other films, so the extra footage I added is from "Ghost Ship" which was a 2002 Horror directed by Steve Beck. The sounds/music I used were all royalty free sound clips I found online.
