Day 3 - Butte to Thompson Falls Up early for breakfast at Hampton; walk to Walmart for camera card while others hit Harley dealer. Long haul on 90 broken up by stop in Deer Lodge - ice cream and prison museum, golden spike monument. Recreated little town, including prison & school. Bike gets oil. Stop at Missoula HD then lunch at Montana Grill again and back on road. Heat doesn't diminish even when we turn onto 93 & off highway. Carlie loses headset cable pin; Nat loses rear shifter, everyone loses a bit of patience. Carlie and I stop at Quinn's hot springs; an assortment of thermal pools ranging from 65-106 degrees F. Built in 1880's, surrounded by tall pines. Cool. Last stretch is lovely along river. After checking in at Fall Motel, we find our friends at riverside on island housing old utility station. Huge glacial rocks, high pedestrian bridge, rope swing far below. Warm breezes and spectacular sun low in the sky. Beautiful. Dinner in town with Phil; a young & personable travelling businessman - followed by his initiation to LRC.
