Stemmed from Giorgione’s Sleeping Venus and many iterations afterword (specifically referencing Titian and Matisse’s versions) this video depicts the infamous pose held throughout the painting but this time by a small male bodied person with pink and raw joints. Una Furtiva Lagrima, an aria from Donizetti’s L'elisir d'amore, plays over the still but moving image of the body. This aria is about the drunkard of the village seeing the most beautiful woman in the village secretly have one tear fall for him after he drinks some botched love potion sold from a traveling merchant. He sings over and over again “What more need I look for? She loves me! [...} Yes I could die! If I could die of love.” Then the scene switches to the maker in the shower posing as an oracle with steam rising around him. He puts the cloth over his head to capture the steam as ancient Greek oracles would then subtitles begin reciting a text that has emotion taking hold of morality.
