Omeran Husam is an 11-year-old boy, the youngest of five children who lost their father to aerial bombing during the liberation of Mosul from ISIS. The death of Omeran’s beloved father traumatized him, leading to a significant change in the young boy’s behavior. He refused to talk, go outside or spend time with anyone. In 2018, a year after losing his father, Omeran and his family moved to Erbil so his mother might find better employment opportunities to provide for her children. She is a baker, but sometimes she needs monetary assistance from others to help pay for rent and other expenses. One day, Omeran saw some children leaving the local Tae Kwon Do Center, and this withdrawn young boy perked up. He was interested in learning more, so he asked his mother if he could attend the center. She was eager to help him since this was the first thing he expressed interest in since his father's death. She soon realized she would not be able to afford the cost of attending class. She promised Omeran that if he earned good grades in school she would save money to register him for the next session. Omeran passed fifth grade with honors, so his mother took him to the center as promised. There, she learned that Victor Marx and All Things Possible Ministries had recently begun sponsoring students who were orphans or whose families struggled with limited income. All of Omeran's expenses were covered by ATP. Omeran's mother was thrilled and expressed her gratitude for the generous sponsorship of her son’s classes. She has observed that since Omeran began attending the course, his outlook — as well as his mental, physical and emotional state — have improved significantly. He communicates more with others and is now on the path to a happier and more hopeful future. Omeran is proud of his new hobby and he is now looking ahead, setting his sights on becoming a doctor one day.
