Following the last video I posted, this documents an example of several cleanup efforts being conducted by volunteers form various groups all over Metro Manila. The volunteers here are students, teachers, employees, and other affiliates of Ateneo de Manila University, and they were deployed to a community where many of the school's faculty and staff reside. Being right beside the Marikina River, the flooding was considerable and the remaining mud is ankle- to knee-deep in several places. Read a first-hand account of what transpired during the storm in this village here [note on URL - there is nothing about local politics in this article]: http://ph.politicalarena.com/presidential-elections/news/in-the-eye-and-teeth-of-ondoy Even after the flood has subsided in most areas, thick layers of mud continue to blanket streets and cover most of the possessions of those affected. Proper cleanup of all especially the most brutally hit areas will involve a considerable concerted effort to remove the huge amount of material redeposited by flooding rivers.
