First, I had no intention of capturing original video content or entering this 15-sec film festival until Sunday (3/14/22) morning at 5:30AM when inspiration struck while I was having my morning coffee and wrote the words I wanted to say. So, without having to bring out my big girl gear, I decided to use what was easily accessible, my iPhone. Using two iPhone's, I used my iPhone 12 ProMax to capture the morning sunrise time lapse from 6:43AM to 8AM and at the same time used an iPhone 11 to capture my morning activity making coffee and taking sips from my coffee cup. Then, at 8AM I made breakfast, attended a 9AM-10:15AM zoom meeting, afterwards I had time to video record my Navajo basket with jewelry and camera lenses. [NOTE: Last year, I captured only photos of my basket with lenses, but I never recorded video of placing the items into my basket like I did in this short film.] Finally, I captured all original footage by 11AM MST. I started editing on Premiere Pro at 11:15AM and completed at 12:15PM MST utilizing the maximum time length of 1-minute. This 15-sec Film Challenge was actually a fun activity, and it allowed me to measure my creativity and challenged what I could do with my mobile phones in 4 hours and 30 minutes. This includes writing my voice over messaging, then recording my voice over, music selection, recording video to capture, create graphics and text, edit it all together, and export a deliverable. Below, I've shared the rules of this film challenge and encourage others to continue exercising your creative minds and just create something! Thank you 2022 Visual Storytelling Conference hosted by Future Media Concepts (FMC) for encouraging us video creatives to create the stories we love to make and to tell the stories we want to see more of in the world.
