"PÉRIPHÉRIQUE - l’histoire d’un homme" is the story of a young man from a Banlieue in Paris, riding his bike in todays society. Inspired by the infamous classic La Haine from 1996, our short film shows the situation in Paris today. „Jusqu‘ ici tout va bien“ and 25 years later the society still hasn ́t changed much. But maybe at least a bit. This is where the bicycle plays an important role in our story. The bicycle is not only the future way of local mobility but also breaks up boundries between the different classes of society. A car seperates the people from the outside world. Builds up a wall made of steel and glass. Gives people in cars a higher ranking through it ́s strengh. Promoting egoism and materializm. A bicycle integrates, creating a sense of togetherness. It was an honor being able to shoot and show a side of Paris which has nothing to do with the Eiffel tower or the romantic image of the city. The film was shot in 3 days, where our personal highlight was the day in the Banlieue Clichy Sous Bois. Many new impressions and educational for everybody involved.
